apathy is a meal

apathy is a meal best served fast and hot,
high in sugars, salt, and fat
you know the taste perhaps
on the run, no time to waste
apathy is a meal best served
in a tin and plastic fork,
frozen once and ready for your head
tasty now, savory, and hot
with a game or show or gameshow on
the quality is out of sight
Alexa blaring hip hop down the hall
time to sleep you decide, valium or melatonin
or maybe justa knock your head against the wall?
we wake to take our day
with blinking eyes, dreams disturbed, believing not
the earth is still beneath our feet
We haven’t killed her yet?
What are we waiting for?
Mars isn’t ready for us yet?
Come on, brilliant billionaires
Whatcha dragging for?
The mother that birthed us

is getting vexed
on the cusp of inventions defying sense
the competition is intense
it’s a nail bitter to the end
who will destroy whom and when and how?
I don’t think it will be televised
but we have and will be tried
Amen Sis.
